September is World Alzheimer’s month. Our month long Alzheimer’s Awareness 2015 campaign (#WalkforAD2015) culminated on 20th September 2015 with a walk at Lodhi Garden. It was an action packed month with lots of awareness activities, and community interaction and sharing.
We created awareness in Delhi and Gurgaon by walking with banners and talking to people about Alzheimer’s, at Raahgiri and Lodhi Garden. We also organized a talk at Epicentre, Gurgaon, which had specialist doctors along with a psychologist and a social gerontologist from Medanta , National Brain Research Centre(NBRC) and AIIMS discuss the disease, and answer questions. Some caregivers came forward and shared their experiences to give strength to others and let them know that they are not alone.
A lot more needs to be done in this regard and we plan to continue this endeavor.
